Blairsville is 25 miles Northeast of Blue Ridge and offers all kinds of recreational activities. You will find a multitude of great hiking trails in the unspoiled Chattahoochee National Forest. Or the intrepid hiker can explore lesser known trails of Duncan Ridge and the Benton MacKaye Trail. Several waterfalls are within a days hike including DeSoto Falls, Dukes Creek Falls and horse Trough Falls. You'll find many opportunities for camping, hiking, picnicking, gold panning and fishing.
Union county is 204,736 acres, with 97,843 of that being a part of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Like Blue Ridge the counties population is around 18,000 to 20,000 with the county seat being the town of Blairsville.

Union County offers several lakes, the largest being Lake Nottely at 4180 acres and has approximately 106 miles of shoreline. Lake Trahlyta is a small 280 acre lake in Vogel State Park which offers swimming fishing and paddle boating. Two smaller lakes are Winfield Scott and Lake Woody near Suches.
